Anyone feel the need to be MOD?
Sun Apr 18, 2010 6:14 pm by meanwood_monks
Been thinking about this for a while now.

Some of you guys/gals have been here since day 1. Cheers for all your support over this time.
Was wondering if anyone was wanting to keep an eye on things and have MOD rights here.

This is my first Urbex Leeds report. I have noticed a few hunslet mills reports on the site but none of the reports show inside the main mill building. My pictures were taken back in January this year.

Hunslet Mills was built during the 1840's. The main mill building closed during the 1960's and has been empty since then. The roof of the building started to collapse and in 2006-2007 was re-roofed as Hunslet Mills is a grade 2 listed building.

There is currently planning permission to turn the old mill buildings into swanky apartments but I doubt this will be happening for some time with the credit crunch looming.

Here are the pictures.

The Mill Building.

The Ground Floor.

One of the upper floors.

And here's the newly roofed top floor.

And here are some exterior shots

And here is a shot from the 1800's!

I love this building. It used to work next door more or less, and just wander round randomly every lunch time. Shame there is not more left inside. The third picture down looks like the floor is covered in sand. Do you have any interiors of the other buildings?

Love the 1800's shot too.

Nice little report there sam fella, like the shots from the mill section, although saying that it does all look very a like.
Never got in to the big building when I went as the only way in I could find was over a big drop and im a bit of a pussy when it comes to climbing accross drops.

Kool Pics Liking it! Very Happy

Hi Rich. Hunslet mills is certainly of architectual merit. Infact I know a guy on flickr how has actually built a model of the building.

Here is the link to the picture.

And yes I have been inside the other buildings. but not posted many pictures online. I will have a dig through my stuff when I get chance tomorrow! Smile

I love the shot of the red girders in the roof with the light coming in from the sides, great work.
