Anyone feel the need to be MOD?
Sun Apr 18, 2010 6:14 pm by meanwood_monks
Been thinking about this for a while now.

Some of you guys/gals have been here since day 1. Cheers for all your support over this time.
Was wondering if anyone was wanting to keep an eye on things and have MOD rights here.

Not a lot of history on this disused passenger subway i'm afraid. I'll do the best I can. But don't hold your breath.

This place is quite good actually. No fence, signs or anything. Just forgotten.

Passengers would have walked down here and under the railway to get to the station.

Looking back into the light.

The white brickwork was in good nick considering the station was closed in 1970.

I'm now in the subway, and I love the colours that are to be seen.

This place is scores well on the freefromchavdamage - ometer. Just a lot of mud. This is a view looking from the northern entrance (with the stairs that you've just come from, behind you readers) towards the southern entrance.

In the middle of the subway looking towards the northern steps.

One of the foothills of Michelin Mountain. Did you know that once this station closed Osset became (and still is) the largest town in Yorkshire without a railway station? Of course you didn't.

Michelin mountains, a difficult climb to the wary explorer wishing to depart or enter via the southern entrance. Lots of unsafe tyres are always ready to give way and tip icy water and sludge over the climber in a Cheggars Plays Pop type fashion. (ridiculous "joke" for the over 30's)

Although none were seen today, I would imagine this is a particularly pleasant spot for rats to live. Here is a photograph of Sir Richard, first Lord of Boxfrenzy shining a torch on some mud to cheer you up.

No, we went back up it! The pictures are taken in the opposite order, I actually went in the tyres end.

I never knew Horbury had a station. I spend a lot of time cycling the old train lines too that run from wakefield to huddersfield when i'm out trying to photograph kingfishers.
Is it near the old rail yard near Mitchells? Thats only place i can think of.

Hi mate. Sadly I don't know. It is near an old train line, and goes underneath the live train lines. There is a garage at one end that is fixing cars, and this is down a track. Poor description I know.
