Anyone feel the need to be MOD?
Sun Apr 18, 2010 6:14 pm by meanwood_monks
Been thinking about this for a while now.

Some of you guys/gals have been here since day 1. Cheers for all your support over this time.
Was wondering if anyone was wanting to keep an eye on things and have MOD rights here.

PostSubject: Stanley Royd Asylum Chapel - Church of St Faiths - July 08   Mon Aug 18, 2008 11:15 am

This is the last remaining unconverted building that was part of Stanley Royd Asylum. The asylum was built in 1816 and was first occupied in 1818 and the church was added in 1861. The church was then licensed for baptism and marriage in 1867. The church has now been sold and is supposed to be awaiting redevelopment for office use but still presently only accommodates the very many pigeons that have made it home.

Firstly some external shots

Onwards towards the stinking pit of hell!!

The once beautiful but now faeces ridden and fire damaged interior

The beautiful window!

The old Organ

After the explore we had to make our escape and searched hard to find an alternative route, to no avail. There was nothing for it but to grit our teeth and go the way we came!!! affraid affraid

Looks like such a horrible route was well worth it. That place looks fab, and a lovely window. I think any report that has the words "faeces ridden" is going to be good. Nice one.

I absolutely love this stained glass in here, thats all i want photos of.
Me and my mate are gonna have a sniff round here over the weekend. My mum used to work at the old Asylum and she said there's always been rumours its seriously haunted. A lot of colleagues refused to clean it. There's an underground section too but as i've not been in i'm not sure where, my mate assures me it's huge!

Pigeon poo all over by the looks of it, is the entry point really that bad? As in.....having to commando crawl through it? Cos if so i think i'll dress down for the occassion :-)

Cannon? Surprised
Why thankyou, though i have been a frequent visitor to your impressive Flickr page and i've seen most of your stuff already. Very good by the way.

I reckon we're gonna just risk it for a biscuit and worry about scrubbing up after!

Gritted teeth and ignorance! Smile

Well...i went..... i looked......and i said "fuck that". There's no way i'm crawling down that hole !

By the looks of it tramps had been using it as a shelter, there was rubbish, clothes and about 40 empty cider bottles. Also you never know if junkies have been using the place to jack up either so that put me off crawling through shit, didn't fancy a stray needle or owt.
I'd say its now well off limits. I did come up with a way to still get my stained glass shots though, that could be another visit.
